Steel Match Rules

Below are the rules that we will be following for the 2009 steel matches.  If you have any questions, please contact our Steel Coordinator, Justin Groff, at stingerjg@gmail.com Please note that you are shooting only one gun at the match.  We plan to have five stages at each match, so bring lots of ammo!


DIVISIONS AND CATEGORIES

OPEN DIVISION
Open shall be governed by USPSA rules for firearm description and rule interpretation. All Open entrants compete in Open Class for overall awards. Open can utilize compensators and optics as well as any other enhancements governed by the USPSA rules.

LIMITED DIVISION
Limited shall be governed by USPSA rules for firearm description and rule interpretation. All Limited entrants compete in Open Class AND for additional Limited overall awards. Failure to meet Limited rules and criteria shall result in disqualification from Limited award consideration. The competitor would still be eligible in Open Class.

PRODUCTION DIVISION
Production shall be governed by USPSA rules for firearm description and rule interpretation. All Production entrants compete in Open Class AND for additional Production overall awards. Failure to meet Production rules and criteria shall result in disqualification from Production award consideration. The competitor would still be eligible in Open Class or Limited.

REVOLVER DIVISION
Entrants competing with revolvers will compete in Open Class AND overall Revolver. Open Revolver has no restrictions for maximum rounds or use of optics.

WOMEN'S DIVISION
All women competitors will compete in Open Class AND overall and the Women’s Division, they are still eligible for all other categories. Women will have two Divisions – Open and Iron Sight.

JUNIOR DIVISION
All competitors 13-17 years old at the time of the match will qualify for Junior in addition to the Overall or Category that they otherwise qualify for. Please state birth date on the application. All Junior or Pre-Teen competitors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by their parent or guardian. The parent or guardian must be in attendance for the Junior shooter to compete. If the parent/guardian of the Junior is competing in the tournament, they must be squaded together. The liability waiver must be signed by both the competitor and their parent or legal guardian.

SENIOR DIVISION
All competitors 55 to 64 years old at the time of the match will qualify for Open Class and Senior.

SUPER SENIOR DIVISION
All competitors 65 years of age and older at the time of the match will qualify for Open Class and Super Senior.

RIMFIRE DIVISION - EVENT
There will be two categories of rimfire. One will be utilizing optics and one will be without optics. All entrants shall compete from the "ISI rested ready position" which will be defined as gun in hand, finger off of the trigger and pointed at a cone 12 feet downrange. Due to the lack of a holster, rimfire will not be eligible for Overall awards, but will instead compete for it's own Division Championships.
 


STAGE NOTES

SPEED OPTION
Plate # 2 - "option" to shoot that plate or skip it. No penalty for a miss on that plate. If you hit it, subtract 2 seconds from your run.

SHOWDOWN
Showdown will have two 3’x 3’ shooting boxes and two runs will be shot from one shooting box and two from the other. The competitor may choose from either box to shoot their fifth and final run. There is NO movement between boxes during this course of fire.

OUTER LIMITS
Outer Limits will have three 4’ x 4’ shooting boxes. The shooter will start on their weak side shooting box and will engage the 20 and 35 yard plates on the weak side of the center line, move to the middle shooting box and engage the remaining two plates and stop plate. Note: Only two of the three boxes will be used by each shooter. Depending on whether you are right or left handed, you will begin in the appropriate outside box and finish in the middle box.
